       Google Algorithms

Google’s algorithms are a complex system designed to recover data from its search index and quickly deliver the best possible results for a given query. The search engine utilizes a combination of algorithms and various ranking factors to present webpages ranked by their relevance on its search engine results pages (SERPs).

How does the search work?

The search process has three processes:

    • Crawling: The Google algorithm directs web crawlers to discover URLs on the internet and analyze their content. A web crawler is a program that systematically browses the web to index content automatically.

    • Indexing: The content found at these URLs is tagged with attributes and metadata that assist the search engine in categorizing the information.

    • Searching and Ranking: When a user enters a query, the search engine ranks the indexed content and returns results based on relevance to the query.

Ranking Algorithms

This algorithm stands behind ranking pages on SERPs. There is a considerable number of unknown factors considered by the algorithm, including:

  • Content
  • Core Web Vitals
  • HTTPS
  • Site speed
  • Links
  • Anchor texts
  • Geographical locations (for local searches)
  • Mobile-friend lines

Major Google Algorithms

  • Florida: Targeted pages with a low quantity of content and Poor quality.
  • Big Daddy: It focused on links targeting a website and the quality of those links
  • Jagger: Using targeted keyword stuffing and link spamming techniques.
  • Vince: Targeted websites with doorway pages and low content quality.
  • Caffeine: Improved crawling and page indexing.
  • Panda: It focused on improving low-quality content and eliminating thin content.
  • Freshness Algorithm: It worked on the freshness of content in SERP.
  • Page Layout Algorithms: Targeted websites showing excessive ads.
  • Venice Update: Focused on targeting keywords within the anchor text.
  • Penguin: Targeted websites that had irrelevant or spammy links.
  • EMD (Exact Match Domain): Addressed websites with exact match domain names and low-quality content.
  • Payday: Targeted websites related to payday loans and other questionable industries.
  • Hummingbird: Worked on understanding natural language processing to meet user search intent.
  • Pigeon: Improved local search results for desiccated within a specific geographic area.
  • Mobilegeddon: It prioritized websites that have a mobile-friendly interface.
  • Rank Brain: A machine learning algorithm that understands the reason behind the search to provide the best results.
